The Fourth of July is a day of fun and celebration as we recognize America’s birthday. When looking for something fun to do, head over to Madison on July 3rd and then Covington on July 4th for these events:

Independence Day Picnic

On Monday, July 3rd, bring the family and meet up with friends at the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center for a favorite annual event in Madison. Claim a spot on the lawn and setup for an evening picnic and great time listening to rousing patriotic music by Georgia’s longest operating community band, the Athens Classic City Band, directed by Michael Brewer. Madison Picnic and Fireworks Display

It’s Independence Day weekend and you must see to fireworks! If you are in or near Madison on Monday, July 3rd, find a spot at Heritage Park (Bill Wood Park) to watch the annual fireworks display, starting at dusk (9 pm). Visit http://ga-madison.civicplus.com/ for more information.

Stars & Stripes Fest

On Tuesday, July 4th, come to downtown Covington for the Stars & Stripes Fest for food, fun, and friends as we celebrate July Fourth on the Square. There will be live entertainment as well as activities for the kids. Come stay the day and light the night! Activities begin at 2:30pm and go all day. Then the fireworks display starts at 9:30pm.
